Cenario's Pizza (27 Sep)
  • Currently 4.0/5 Stars.
I want to give a shout out to Cenario's. This place is around the corner from where I live, and thus is a frequented spot. The pizza is standard. Nothing exceptional or remarkable about it, but it's a good, dependable 'za. The prices are also excellent, making it worthy of mention.
Zachary's (27 Sep)
  • Currently 5.0/5 Stars.
I'm a recent convert to Zachary's, as I tend to prefer thin crusts. In a way, Z's deep dish pizza is in a class by itself: chunky tomatoes in the excellent sauce, a crust that stands (literally) on its own. I'm a fan of the basic cheese. 2 slices is a meal by itself, and the rest will be remarkably good the next morning--cold or reheated!
Bertucci's (27 Sep)
  • Currently 3.0/5 Stars.
Somewhat overrated pizza, above average breadsticks and apps. A local favorite, but there are better, less gourmet pizzas around for sure.
Papa Gino's (27 Sep)
  • Currently 5.0/5 Stars.
Papa Gino's is probably the first pizza I ever ate. And as such, it set the standard for me for life. For a chain, they produce a remarkably consistent and appealing pie: a thin, soft crust, an above average sauce, and piping hot cheese (burns on the roof of your mouth are almost inevitable) make this a tried and true fave.

Woodstock's is definitely a Davis institution. The location and set up make it a great spot for a slice and a beer. One of the best features of their pizza is the option for a whole wheat crust. Surprisingly, it's a very soft, tasty crust that's complimented by a sort of tangy sauce. Good selection of toppings, sides, and salads, though their prices are a bit high. But no doubt solid pizza (and great for hangovers!).
