We have always wanted to go here, but could never get in. But alas, we finally got in...on a Saturday...for lunch. The atmosphere in here is super cool. Brick and wood accents, and beautiful tables. We had the lamb sausage pizza. Was AMAZING! Crust cooked to perfection, the lamb was delicious and the cheese perfect. I wish the pizza's were a little bigger though. We loved this place and can't wait to go back and try the other pizza's and dishes. Highly recco this place for pizza and their other specialties.
This is a hidden gem for pizza restaurants in San Francisco. We went here last night and sat at the bar, per usual. We ordered the BaoNecci Salad as an opener...was decent. We then got the Pasta Aglio Olioe Peperoncino and was AMAZING. But the portion was small. Would have ordered another one if we knew ahead of time. For the pizza we got the Diavola. This pizza was sooo good. Really thin, flaky crust. Italian style pizza. The sauce was perfect, the ingredients fresh. The only complaints I have and the reason I didn't give it 5 stars were: was expensive (but worth it), small pasta dish (but amazing), and the pizza is really thin crust, so wasn't super filling. All in all though - great experience and food. Great wine selection as well. It is a must try in North Beach.
As if North Beach didn't have enough amazing pizza...but I'm not complaining...the more the merrier. Il Casaro just opened in the heart of North Beach. In fact, on the touristy street (Columbus) of NB. But finally a restaurant on this street that's worth going to. The space is really cool - open, sleek, but still holds the charm of a pizzeria. Great seating at the bar and perfect for people watching I got the margherita and loved it. Perfect crust, great sauce. I highly recommend and I will be back. I love you North Beach!
We went here for drinks, not knowing what to expect as this place just opened. Long behold, turns out the owner is a friend of ours - Gabe - and the place is cool. Just beer and wine now, but surprised that they had food - and good food! We got a pizza, more like a flat bread pizza. Was really good, but the crust could have been a little better. Would like to come back and try some of the other pizzas and dishes.
OMG! That's all I can say. This pizza place is one of the oldest in the country and has a cool history. They use coal fired ovens, which makes their pizza unique. The crust and mozz cheese is cooked to perfection. This might be the best pizza I have ever tried...and I've tried a lot! The only downfall, is this place is too popular! They told us the wait would be at least an hour, but we went on an off day and time, which minimized the wait time (about 20 minutes) and worth every second of the wait! Highly suggest going here.
Love at first bite! We went here and ended up sitting at the chef's table. Such a cool experience and vantage point. Can see the chefs prep and cook all the food. The food and service here is great. We ended up getting a few small plates and the sausage pizza. The pizza was great. Good crust and great mozz cheese and sauce. The other dishes here are amazing as well. Highly recommend coming here to try the pizza and the other dishes
I was impressed! Wasn't sure wat to think prior to coming...passed by this place so many times I can't even count. Got the spicy sausage pizza and loved it. Great crust and sauce. 1 pizza is more than enough for 1 person. I would def come back and would like to try the other pizza's. Outdoor seating, great lunch spot and good people watching
We loved this place - the space - but the pizza left something to be desired. This is a small, quaint and cool space. Feels like you're eating in someone's home. Only like 4 tables and a small bar with stools. The pizza options are astounding - really cool, organic, fresh ingredients. The crust however wasn't all that. Overall, the experience was amazing, but the pizza was decent. We would love to come back and try some other dishes as everything looked great.
Wow! We were shocked at the quality of the pizza here. First off, it is located in Fisherman's Warf (tourist aea of SF); second, we've never heard of it outside Yelp; third, it's not your typical restaurant - more of a food truck meets street food shack. Don't let Any of that deter you from coming here. We absolutely loved it! We got the Margherita pizza and the Caprese with fresh, local heirloom tomatoes pizza. Both were absolutely amazing. The crust was superb, the cheese and crust cooked to perfection. They have a small space to cook and only outdoor seating (but covered for unpredictable weather). The owners are so nice and love to interact with the patrons. This is a hidden gem that will soon be all the rage in SF regardless of location. The one thing I wish they had (and they said they are working on it) is a liquor license...cause you know, a beer and pizza is a perfect pair!
Our first time here and very surprised in the quality and selection. We opted for the Tenderfoot, but got a great tip from a local to ask for tomato / pizza sauce on the Tenderfoot. Made a huge difference. Great crust and toppings. They also have a great selection of apps (the brussels sprouts are amazing!), wine and beer. Fun for groups and kid friendly. Even have a fireplace! Would love to go back and try some of the other pies.
